Your account, courses, progress, XP, and assessment history all live safely in the cloud. Wherever and whenever you sign in, your learning picks up exactly where you left it.

1.1 Why Use the Web App?

Figure 2: Four key benefits of the Web App

Figure 2: Four key benefits of the Web App

  • Any Device — study from a laptop, library computer, or any modern device without installing anything.
  • Always Live — your progress, XP, and assessment history are saved to the cloud in real time.
  • Instant Access — no downloads, no updates — just open your browser.
  • One Account — a single username and password follows you to any device you sign in from.

💡 The web app requires a continuous internet connection. If your connection drops, wait for it to return and refresh the page — nothing you earned is lost.

1.2 Supported Browsers

Use a modern, up-to-date browser for the best experience. Recommended, in order of preference:

  • Google Chrome (version 100 or later)
  • Mozilla Firefox (version 100 or later)
  • Microsoft Edge (version 100 or later)
  • Safari 16 or later (macOS only)

Small phone screens are not supported — use a laptop, desktop, or a tablet with a screen of about 10 inches or larger. On narrower windows the workspace switches to a tabbed view (Lesson / Dashboard / AI Tutor) so everything stays reachable.

  • AoK AI logo — click to go back to your course list.
  • Breadcrumb trail — shows your current location: Course → Module → Lesson.
  • My Courses button — jump to the course library.
  • Cloud Repo button — browse and add published courses.
  • Level & XP badge — your current engineer level and live XP.
  • Streak badge — your current study streak. If your streak is at risk, a warning banner reminds you to study today.
  • Study Timer — pick a duration and click Start (see Chapter 9).
  • 📊 My Progress button — an AI-narrated summary of how you are doing (see Chapter 10).
  • Feedback button — send comments to the AoK team.
  • Avatar / Username — access your profile settings.

💡 The breadcrumb trail is always clickable — click any segment to jump back up the course hierarchy.

3.2 Course Tree (Left Sidebar)

The left sidebar shows the hierarchical structure of the currently open course: modules contain topics, and topics contain lessons.

  • Click a lesson to open its content in the Learning Dashboard.
  • Click a topic, module, or the course itself to study at that wider level — the AI Tutor will then answer questions across everything inside it (see Chapter 7).
  • Collapse or expand branches using the arrow icons.

3.3 Learning Dashboard (Centre)

The Learning Dashboard shows lesson cards with star ratings and content previews.

  • Click a lesson card to open its content.
  • Watch videos or read PDFs directly in the embedded viewer.
  • Google Docs, Office files (DOCX / PPTX / XLSX), and YouTube links all open inside the dashboard.

3.4 AI Tutor Panel (Right)

The AI Tutor panel on the right is where all tutoring happens. It contains the conversation area, the Quick Actions bar, the report bar, and the message box with voice controls. Chapter 5 covers it in detail.

💡 On smaller screens the AI Tutor panel can overlap the content area. Hide it when you need the full screen — the next section shows how to bring it back.

3.5 Hiding and Reopening Panels

Both side panels can be hidden to give the centre more room: click the small ◀ or ▶ arrow in a panel's header to collapse it. When a panel is hidden, a coloured reopen button appears in the centre header — ▶ Tree brings back the Course Tree, and AI ◀ brings back the AI Tutor.

Figure 7: A hidden panel leaves a coloured reopen button in the centre header — a one-time hint points it out

You can also drag the divider between panels to resize them.

4. Browsing & Opening Courses

4.1 My Courses

  1. Click My Courses in the navigation bar.
  2. All courses available to you appear as cards.
  3. Click any card to open the course.

Courses load from the cloud automatically — there is nothing to download. The course data streams as you browse.

4.2 Cloud Repository

  1. Click Cloud Repo in the navigation bar.
  2. Browse publicly available courses across the platform.
  3. Click any course to add it to your library and open it immediately.

5. Your AI Tutor

The AI Tutor is a learning companion that adapts to you. It explains, gives examples, asks you questions when the moment is right, scores your answers, and remembers your journey — all inside one natural conversation.

5.1 One Conversation — Teaching and Checking

There are no modes to switch and no buttons to press. You simply talk to your tutor:

  1. Select a lesson (or a wider scope — Chapter 7) in the Course Tree.
  2. Confirm the context label at the top of the AI Tutor panel shows the right name.
  3. Type your question in the message box and press Enter or click Send.

Figure 8: One conversation — the tutor explains, slips in a quick check, scores your answer, and continues where you steer it

Figure 8: One conversation — the tutor explains, slips in a quick check, scores your answer, and continues where you steer it

While you learn, the tutor will occasionally ask you a short check — a question that tests whether the idea landed. Answer it like any other message. Correct answers earn XP on the spot, and every check feeds the lesson report described in Chapter 6.

💡 The tutor reads your actual lecture notes — not just general knowledge — so its explanations and checks match what your professor actually teaches.

5.2 You Stay in Control

The tutor decides when to teach and when to check, but you can redirect it at any moment, in plain language:

  • "Quiz me on this lesson" — the tutor switches to asking you questions.
  • "Let's get back to the lesson" — the tutor returns to explaining.
  • "That was too hard — go slower" — the tutor adjusts its pace.
  • "Give me a harder one" — the tutor raises the challenge.

There is no wrong way to ask. The tutor follows your lead.

5.3 The Status Line

When the tutor needs a moment — reading lesson notes, surveying a module, or looking for related courses — a short grey line appears under your message, such as "Reading the lesson notes…". It tells you what the tutor is doing and disappears as soon as the answer starts. Status lines are never saved into your conversation.

5.4 A Tutor That Knows Your Journey

Your tutor greets returning students naturally — it knows your streak, the lessons you have studied, your current Bloom level, and a recent weak topic, and it weaves them into the conversation when helpful. Once you have built up enough history, it can also reflect your growth honestly: what you have genuinely mastered and what still needs work. It will never invent progress you have not made.

💡 New account? The tutor simply starts fresh — the personal touches appear as your history grows.

5.5 Quick Actions

Above the message box sits the Quick Actions bar:

  • 📋 Today's Brief — a personalised study agenda for today (Chapter 10).
  • 💡 Hint 1 — a progressive hint during a check (Chapter 10).
  • ⚔️ Debate Me — challenge the AI to argue the opposite view for 3× XP (Chapter 10).

5.6 Voice — Speaking and Listening

You can talk to your tutor and have it talk back:

  • 🎤 Microphone — click it, speak your question, and the words appear in the message box. Choose your speech language next to the button: English, Arabic, Hindi, or Farsi.
  • 🔊 Read — reads the latest tutor reply aloud using your browser's speech synthesis. Pick a voice from the voice menu, and use ⏹ to stop.

⚠️ You may need to grant your browser permission to use the microphone or audio output. Allow it if prompted.

6. Checks, Scores & Reports

6.1 How Checking Works

Checking your understanding is part of the conversation. The tutor decides when a quick question fits — or you can ask to be quizzed at any time ("quiz me"). Each answer is scored from 0 to 100 behind the scenes, mapped to a Bloom's Taxonomy level, and rewarded with XP immediately.

6.2 XP and Bloom's Taxonomy

Questions climb Bloom's Taxonomy — from recalling facts to creating solutions. Harder levels earn more XP:

LevelSkillMax XP
1 — RememberingRecall facts20 XP
2 — UnderstandingExplain concepts20 XP
3 — ApplyingSolve problems40 XP
4 — AnalyzingFind patterns40 XP
5 — EvaluatingMake judgements75 XP
6 — CreatingDesign solutions75 XP

Scores multiply with your streak (up to ×3.0) — higher streaks mean more XP from the same performance.

6.3 Saving and Revisiting Reports

Whenever a lesson is loaded, a report bar appears in the AI Tutor panel:

Figure 9: The report bar — save a report of your session, and revisit it any time

Figure 9: The report bar — save a report of your session, and revisit it any time

  1. When you have answered some checks, click 📊 Finish & Save Report.
  2. The AI writes a full performance report — your score, Bloom level, strengths, and what to review — and saves it to your account. You earn +100 XP.
  3. From then on, a 📊 View Saved Report button appears whenever you open that lesson, so you can revisit the report any time.

💡 Your professor can view your saved reports too — they are a great way to show your progress and to get targeted help.

7. Studying Beyond One Lesson

7.1 Ask About a Topic, a Module, or the Whole Course

You are not limited to one lesson at a time. Select a topic, a module, or the course itself in the Course Tree, and the tutor surveys everything inside it. This is perfect for revision and for big-picture questions:

Figure 10: Select a module in the tree and ask across all of its lessons

Figure 10: Select a module in the tree and ask across all of its lessons

  • "Compare the three pressure-measurement methods in this module."
  • "Summarise what this topic is really about."
  • "Quiz me across the whole course."

7.2 Open-This-Lesson Shortcuts

When the tutor's answer draws on other lessons, it attaches up to three 📖 Open this lesson buttons under the reply. Click one and that lesson opens immediately — the fastest way to follow a thread through your course.

7.3 Suggestions Beyond Your Course

If a topic you need goes beyond the current course, the tutor can point you onward: first to other lessons inside your course, and then to other courses you have access to that teach that topic or prerequisite. Just ask things like "Where can I learn more about differential equations?" — the tutor will name the places you can actually go.

8. Gamification — XP, Levels, and Streaks

Everything you do earns experience points (XP). XP accumulates into levels, and daily study builds streaks that multiply your rewards.

8.1 XP Rewards

ActionXP
Asking the Tutor (short)+5 XP
Asking the Tutor (detailed, 15+ words)+15 XP
Opening a new lesson+10 XP
Check answered (Remembering / Understanding)up to +20 XP
Check answered (Applying / Analyzing)up to +40 XP
Check answered (Evaluating / Creating)up to +75 XP
Finishing a report+100 XP
Completing a Study Timer round+25 XP
Peer Debate answer3× normal XP

8.2 Streak System

Your streak increases every day you study. Streaks multiply all XP you earn:

  • 1–2 days: ×1.0 (normal XP)
  • 3–6 days: ×1.5 XP
  • 7–29 days: ×2.0 XP
  • 30+ days: ×3.0 XP

💡 The streak day counter uses your account's server time. A study session after midnight may count for the next day.

8.3 Engineer Career Levels

You advance through ten engineer titles, from Freshman Engineer (Level 1) up to Chief Engineer (Level 10), as you accumulate XP. Your current level badge is always visible in the navigation bar.

9. Study Timer

The Study Timer lives in the navigation bar:

  1. Select a duration from the dropdown (10, 15, or 25 minutes).
  2. Click Start.
  3. Study with focused attention during the countdown.
  4. When the round ends, collect your +25 XP and any surprise reward.

💡 Starting a timer counts as an active session for streak purposes.

10. Advanced AI Features

10.1 Daily Brief 📋

Figure 11: The Daily Brief — a personalised study agenda for today

Figure 11: The Daily Brief — a personalised study agenda for today

Click 📋 Today's Brief in the Quick Actions bar to generate your personalised study agenda. The brief lists your recent weak areas and recommended lessons, with clickable lesson links.

💡 The brief is generated once per day. Navigating between lessons does not regenerate it.

10.2 Hint Ladder 💡

When the tutor has asked you a check question, click 💡 Hint to request a hint:

  • Level 1: gentle nudge (–5 XP)
  • Level 2: key concept pointer (–10 XP)
  • Level 3: full walkthrough (–20 XP)

Hints are disabled once all three levels are used for a question, and reactivate on the next one.

10.3 Peer Debate Mode ⚔️

Click ⚔️ Debate Me and the AI argues the opposite position from your statements, challenging you to defend your reasoning. All answers during a debate earn 3× XP. Click the button again to exit Debate mode at any time.

10.4 Analytics Narrator 📊

Click 📊 My Progress in the navigation bar to receive a spoken and written five-sentence summary of your performance trends — strongest topics, areas for improvement, and a motivational note.

11. Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I cannot find the web app. What is the address?
